More than 70 delegates graced the Retail Banking Forum 2018 in Jakarta
The forum focused on digital transformation and emerging technologies.
Asian Banking & Finance successfully held the second leg of its 5-city Retail Banking Forum 2018 road show with a jam-packed event in Jakarta on March 21 with more than 70 delegates.
Edy Widjaja, partner at Bain & Company and one of the event's thought leaders, began with a presentation on what a retail bank of the future looks like and how it operates. He was significantly followed by Hendri Chow, VP and head of e-channels at Bank OCBC NISP, to talk about how the bank does not simply go online with its digitalisation efforts, but it rather lives online. Sambit Pattayanak, APT vice president for client services at mastercard, talked about how banks can use data for profitable innovation.
Widjaja, Chow, and Pattayanak then sat on a panel that discussed the bank branch design and the customer journey.
The presentations and panel discussion following the networking break were about digital transformation.
Mohit Mehrotra, partner, co-leader at Monitor Deloitte and one of the event's thought leaders, presented the big shifts in technology and customer behaviour and their associated implication on financial services ecosystems in ASEAN. Following Mehrotra, Bob Ananta, managing director of planning & banking operations at Bank Negara Indonesia discussed the bank's journey into digital transformation. Last but not the least, Celent senior analyst Eiichiro Yanagawa talked about initiatives and challenges of open API banking in Japan and APAC.
Yanagawa sat on a panel with Fransiscus Kaurrany, senior vice president at Bank Central Asia to discuss relevant and salient issues regarding digital transformation in banks.
The forum was attended by key executives from Bank OCBC NISP, Bank Negara Indonesia, and Bank Central Asia amongst others.
The 2018 Retail Banking Forum will also be held in Kuala Lumpur (April 25) and Bangkok (May 31).
