Singapore-based firm unveils Myanmar’s maiden gastrointestinal & liver centre

Aiming to address the rising incidence of liver disease.

Liver disease patients in Myanmar’s bustling capital will now have their own dedicated centre for gastrointestinal and liver treatment, as Singapore-based Asian American Medical Group (AAMG) aims to tackle the rising incidence of liver disease in the region.

According to a press release by AAMG, the Gastrointestinal and Liver centre will be located at Pinlon Hospital in Yangon and will be run by AAMG and 30th Street and will be headed by professor Khin Maung Win.

“The centre will offer consultation, treatment, endoscopies and certain surgical procedures for local and international patients,” the press release said.

Meanwhile, according to the release, some 3.3 nmillion people in the country suffer from Hepatitis B while another 1.3 million are affected by Hepatitis C.

“PGLC will be positioned as an international medical centre. Medical experts from AAMG – surgeons, radiologists, oncologists – will work with local gastrointestinal and liver specialists to improve the quality of liver treatments in Myanmar,” it added.
