APAC patient care faces hurdles amidst staff shortages and financial woes

Healthcare leaders raise concerns about delivering timely and high-quality care.

Staff shortages and financial difficulties are significantly affecting patient care across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, according to a Royal Philips survey.

More than half (71%) of the region’s healthcare leaders expressed concerns about patient care delays due to staffing challenges, whilst a majority (92%) reported that financial constraints are impeding their ability to provide timely and high-quality care.

As a response to financial pressures, 59% of the respondents are focusing on improving operational efficiency.

This strategy is being adopted in several APAC countries, including Singapore (64%), Indonesia (57%), and Australia (56%).

Meanwhile, nearly half (45%) of organisations have implemented workflow optimisation measures to manage high patient volume and mitigate the impact of staff shortages.
