Australia invests $2.5m for enhanced infection prevention in aged care

Four research projects will each receive funding to provide insights into effective IPC programmes.

Australia has announced an investment of over $2.5m (A$3.7m) for targeted research to improve infection prevention and control (IPC) in aged care homes.

Four projects under the National Health and Medical Research Council’s Targeted Call for Research (TCR) initiative will each receive nearly $664.1k (A$1m) to provide insights into the effective implementation of IPC programmes.

The projects will explore various factors that influence successful IPC measures to develop evidence-based interventions for public and private aged care homes.

Moreover, they are set to inform what actions are required for these programmes to be successfully implemented.
