IHH Malaysia to transition to value-based healthcare

The group is currently adopting an evidence-based model through its VDO initiative.

IHH Healthcare Malaysia has announced its plans to transition to value-based healthcare.

The move follows the Health Minister’s call to shift from a “pay-for-service” to a “pay-for-outcomes” model.

Moreover, this development is focused on reducing costs associated with unnecessary medical procedures.

According to the group, they are currently adopting an evidence-based healthcare model through its value-driven outcomes (VDO) initiative.

“To ensure optimal outcomes from our VDO initiatives, we establish performance metrics for each procedure, including adherence to clinical guidelines, to improve the quality of patient recovery, and patient recovery time,” IHH Healthcare Malaysia CEO, Jean-François Naa, said.

These initiatives cover around 15% of the healthcare provider’s procedures, including colonoscopy, coronary angioplasty, total knee replacement (TKR), anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery, and hysterectomy.
