Korean gov’t launches Bio-Health Innovation Commission to support AI and nanotech growth

This will address the challenges of fragmented government policies in bio-health tasks.

The South Korean government established the pan-governmental control tower for creating new bio-health markets.

In a statement, the market’s Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) said the commission will “foster the bio-health industry and provide systematic support for integration and convergence of the industry and the latest technologies including AI and nanotechnology.”

Specifically, the government’s presidential decree is titled, “The Regulations on the Establishment and Operation of the Bio-Health Innovation Commission.”

Prior to this decree, MOHW said bio-health tasks linked to “pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and healthcare technologies have been hindered by compartmentalisation across various ministries, fields, and stages, resulting in fragmented government policies.”

Following the announcement of the Strategies to Create New Bio-Health Markets on February 28, MOHW pushed for the establishment of the “Bio-Health Innovation Commission,” a comprehensive government control tower presided over by the Prime Minister, encompassing all areas of bio-health.
