PolyU partners with ZEISS for myopia control tech advancement

The partnership focuses on developing myopia control and other ophthalmic technologies.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) tied up with ZEISS Vision Care for the market penetration of the university’s proprietary myopia control lens technologies through intellectual property licencing.

The licensing agreement, signed in Aalen, Germany, will enable ZEISS to adopt the university’s patented technology into its specialised optical products.

In addition, the collaboration will delve into research and development aimed at myopia control and other ophthalmic technologies.

“Further research into the understanding and treatment of myopia is of paramount importance and requires intensive cooperation between academia and industry.” Benjamin Viering, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer of ZEISS Vision Care, said.

“We are therefore very pleased to deepen our cooperation to combat progressive myopia for the benefit of children around the world." Viering added.
