Pressure relief devices demand to grow due to elderly population

ResearchAndMarkets.com said the devices market will grow by US$6.25b by 2030.

The pressure relief devices market is projected to grow to US6.25b by 2030 due to the rapidly growing geriatric population and increasing chronic illnesses, ResearchandMarkets report showed.

“This promising growth is anticipated to continue at a robust CAGR of 6.9% throughout the forecast period,” read the report.

The elderly population is prone to pressure ulcers, commonly known as bedsores. Extended bedridden periods due to various medical conditions such as multiple bone fractures, cancer, and other severe ailments contribute to the development of pressure ulcers.

Leading companies are adopting this growth to stay ahead of their competition. One example is Smith & Nephew's construction of a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Malaysia to cater to the region's demands.

Other major industry players are also embracing inorganic growth strategies. For example, in April 2019, Arjo's subsidiaries in Australia and New Zealand initiated a collaboration with Bruin Biometrics (BBI) to establish a framework for pressure injury prevention.
