Private-to-sponsor and take-private deals lead in the healthcare in H1: study

Total deals of private-to-sponsor were at US$4b.

A total of US$7b value of APAC deals in the healthcare sector in the first six months of 2023, with a huge share coming from private-to-sponsor deals, a latest Bain infographic showed.

This was followed by public-to-private deals with US$2b, and sponsor-to-sponsor with $1b.

Per market, the share of deals in India and South Korea went up in the past two years while China has seen year-to-year variability.

In South Korea, deals grew from 8% in 2021-2022 period to 15% in 2022. Then, it doubled to 30% in H1 2023. India’s share of deals skyrocketed from 14% in 2021-2022 to 36% in 2022. It then went a bit low in H1 2023 with 34%.

China deals also saw YoY variability from 8% in 2022 to 21% in H1 2023.
