Taiwan’s NTUH adopts CT fusion technology for advanced imaging

The National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) has incorporated computed tomography (CT) fusion technology in its hybrid operating room for advanced imaging.

The technology inputs preoperative CT scans in a multi-axis imaging system X-ray machine, displaying them in real-time through a surgical fluoroscopy screen.

According to NTUH, this guides doctors in accurately locating lesions, reducing errors, and decreasing the use of contrast agents for procedures, particularly for aortic stent graft surgery and transcatheter aortic valve implantation.

This allows for improved patient safety, shortened surgery times, and reduced exposure to radiation.
