Better service with an improved Sri Kota

Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre awarded the Most Improved Community Hospital of the Year at the Healthcare Asia Awards.

Providing the best healthcare service towards patients is paramount to a hospital’s set of goals, and hospitals are able to continually improve their operations through a combination of factors. Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre (SKSMC) recognised what it needs to improve and, in doing so, was awarded the Most Improved Community Hospital of the Year - Malaysia at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2022.

The awards programme recognises remarkable performances or cutting-edge development from Healthcare organisations across Asia, and SKSMC exalted them against their competitors with SKSMC’s affordable, comprehensive and high-quality specialist healthcare services to the community they serve.

Being in operation since 1999 at Klang, SKSMC has been the pioneer tertiary healthcare provider in the community they serve with their Centre of Excellence in the Cancer Centre, Hand Unit, Heart Centre, and Spine Centre, with the Cancer Centre being the focus of their aspirations to provide better quality care through comprehensive cancer treatment services that include the best techniques and cutting-edge technologies.

SKSMC’s Hand Unit is the first and only of its kind in Klang and nearby Shah Alam, well-equipped with microsurgery facilities, imaging systems, and good support from clinical staff to better facilitate the surgical work of the hand and microsurgeon.

As a community hospital, SKSMC is the first MSQH Accredited Tertiary Private Hospital in Klang, and in December 2018, completed the 3rd cycle of accreditation and received a full four years of accreditation for MSQH 5th Edition Standards. The MSQH accreditation is SKSMC’s testament to their dedication and commitment to delivering quality healthcare services to their patients.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, SKSMC added online services that receive urgent and updated information or treatment regardless of location to support their community at Klang and nearby areas, with the Direct 2 Doctor Careline being introduced as a means for the public to consult with a doctor from the comforts of their own home. A Covid monitoring program for newly diagnosed patients was also implemented alongside the helpline, with a personalised set of medication being prepared and sent directly to a patient’s home.

Post-Covid recovery screening was also made available at SKSMC once a patient survives the virus, giving the patient reassurance that a patient is free from debilitating post-covid illnesses should a patient still have feelings of tiredness or weakness. Adapting to a new normal set by the pandemic has made SKMC introduce an e-store for the public to purchase medical screening packages and set their appointments before having to go to the hospital.
