The company is leading the way in guidewire for minimally invasive treatments.

Developing guidewire for minimally invasive treatment requires utmost care and precision in the development and manufacturing process to ensure that patients get the best treatment with no adverse effects. Asahi Intecc, a well-known global company leading the way in guidewire technology for minimally invasive treatments, went above and beyond the standards to win the Guidewire Technology Product Innovation of the Year - Japan at the Healthcare Asia Medtech Awards 2022.

The awards programme recognises major breakthroughs, innovations, and key players in the MedTech sector of the healthcare industry in Asia. Asahi Intecc Co., Ltd. set themselves apart with their establishment of an advanced engineering capabilities through their “Four Core Technologies” which emphasises the strength of their research and development prowess.

Asahi Intecc Co., Ltd. has committed to enhance its technology since its founding in 1976, investing more than 10% of its annual revenue in R&D and introducing fully integrated production systems.

Established as fundamental technologies, the Fore Core Technologies include wire drawing technology, wire forming technology, torque technology, and coating technology.

  1. Wire Drawing Technology

It measures and closely controls the exact diameter of its core wire on a scale of several thousandths of a millimeter to ensure consistency of its core strength.

  1. Wire Forming Technology

Ultra-fine wire braiding, formed into various profiles at the micron level, produces a flexible coil structure that optimises flexibility and tensile strength.

  1. Torque technology

Its proprietary production process and torque technology deliver 1:1 torque transmission for optimal guide wire control that is superior to the competition.

  1. Coating technology

It manufactures a comprehensive spectrum of advanced coatings for smoother movement inside the vessel.

One remarkable product from Asahi Intecc Co., Ltd. is the PTFE liner which is based on a ultra-thin coating technology. It greatly contributes to improving device delivery performance and it significantly reduces costs through the catheter assembly process.

Based on the established Four Core Technologies, Asahi has developed and supplied various guidewires, stylets, and medical components to partners worldwide including world leading companies such as Boston scientific, Terumo Corporation, and Svelte Medical Systems, Inc. Asahi’s technologies contributed throughout the collaborative R&D process with partners, extending the value and quality of the products by strengthening their innovation.

Not do they only offer unique technologies but also “advanced engineering services” which is often not seen in competitors. These services are provided based on their clinical knowledge and design and development expertise by solving the challenges that partners faced. Asahi Intecc Co., Ltd. Also helps determine user requirements through direct contact with KOL users during the collaborative R&D process with partners. This service is highly efficient since these requirements include human factors and usability. It is used as a guide in the design process, enabling the materialisation of concept into something that will help enhance the quality of living worldwide.

Asahi’s OEM/ODM business in medical device segment will be transferred to Filmecc, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company from 1 July this year. This ensures Asahi’s better contribution in medical fields with partners, with its innovative and unique technology.
