Bank Rakyat Indonesia to increase micro loans from 49% of its total portfolio

The bank's new CEO disclosed some of his strategies for the bank.

According to Maybank Kim Eng, apart from announcing the 1Q17 results, Mr Suprajrto, Bank Rakyat Indonesia's (BBRI’s) new CEO, also shared his medium-term strategy for the bank. This includes raising CASA from regional governments to strengthen its deposit base, improving the value-chain business from its corporate customers, and increasing micro and consumer lending from currently 49% of its total portfolio.

There were no changes in the FY17 guidance or indication of kitchen sinking. On loan syndication for government-related infrastructure projects, BBRI expects to have minority participation as it wants to focus in disbursing IDR71t (US$5.3b) of Kredit Usaha Rakyat, which are government-subsidised micro loans.
